Richard of Hooper's Island
Richard of Hooper's Island

While driving through Upper Hooper Island, I came across some old stuff in someone's yard that I wanted to photograph so I pulled off the road and, when doing so, I met Richard. He was pleased that I was interested in his stuff and as we spoke for a bit he was happy to tell me that he's still an active crabber and that his prefered technique is Trotlining.  Thank you Richard for allowing me to photograph you and your yard art.

A waterman's work is never done. I met Rick as I was driving through Hooper's Island. I saw him out washing his crab pots so I pulled into his driveway and asked if I could take his photograph. He obliged me in my wishes. We ended up talking about his life as a waterman for the next 40 minutes. It was a truly great conversation.

Lawrence
Lawrence

Meet Lawrence. I did on my March 2017 journey to Dorchester County. I happened to see Lawrence fishing while I was heading back to my campground after a long day of shooting photographs throughout the are. I just had to turn my jeep around and go back to where he was fishing to ask if I could take his photograph. He obliged me and even more so, he told me some stories of his life that were just a comical gem. One of those stories was of he and his wife on an anniversary vacation in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania.  During their stay at a local resort, there was an "Open Mic" night and Lawrence participated. He told me that there were numerous people that sang and many of them were not very good. Lawrence didn't sing, he told humorous stories of his life... for 35 minutes... and he ended up winning the event which gave he and his wife a private dining experience with a violinist in their suite. Cool.
